# Parental Leave Policy — Brightwater Labs (example company)

Applies to all permanent employees after their first day of employment.

## Paid parental leave
Employees get 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave after the birth or adoption of a child. The leave can start up to two weeks before the expected birth date. It can be taken in one block, or in up to three blocks within 12 months of the birth or adoption.

## Returning to work
During the first four weeks back, employees may work 80% of their usual hours at full pay. Tell your manager and People Operations at least four weeks before the leave starts.
